Learn more about Maitland & Altamonte Lakes

Maitland is one of the oldest incorporated suburban municipalities in central Florida. Although the area was previously inhabited by Native Americans who named the area Fumecheliga. The town is named after Fort Maitland, built on the western shore of Lake Maitland in 1838 during the Second Seminole War. Nestled between the many clean, picturesque lakes, lie old family oriented and tightly knit neighborhoods making the large and well built homes here highly sought after. Just North of Maitand lies Altamonte Springs. Altamont, minus the “e” was first developed circa 1870, before the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Company gave the area its present name: Altamonte Springs. Both strategically located communities offer excellent access to many key areas in Central Florida. Here you get a country feel well within reach of every type of shop and service imaginable. Maitland Blvd tuns into highway 414, which brings you quickly to the myriad of outdoor activities in the western districts. The I-4 corridor brings you downtown in minutes and it is only a 35 minute drive north to New Smyrna Beach or south the attractions area via the traffic-free Western Beltway. The Park Ave. shops and restaurants of downtown Winter Park lie only 2.5 miles from downtown Maitland and 5 miles from Altamonte Springs.
